“Know any good books, boss?”
The Spoiler was slow on the uptake when it came to Twitter. ‘Who cares what Kerry Katona has had for breakfast?’ We said. However, after dipping our toe tentatively in the water, we’re now big fans of the Twitter – we get news well quick and even get a the occasional decent story out of it.
It’s also great because, if you’re able to get the word Twitter in the header, then you’ll probably get a few extra hits. If you’re able to get the name of a big name footballer in the header as well, then you’re in dreamland.
Anyway, apparently Sir Alex Ferguson thinks Twitter is a waste of time and his players should read a BOOK!? Get with the program, granddad…
Speaking in The Guardian, Sir Fergie had this to say:
“I don’t understand it, to be honest with you. I don’t know why anybody can be bothered with that kind of stuff. How do you find the time to do that?
“There are a million things you can do in your life without that. Get yourself down to the library and read a book. Seriously. It is a waste of time.
“It seems to have a certain momentum at the moment. Everyone seems to want to do it.
“It is responsibility. Players are responsible for their actions. We as a club are looking at it because there can be issues attached to it. And we don’t want that.”
Speaking seriously for a moment, all this seems to have stemmed from Wayne Rooney’s altercation with a fellow Twitterer the other day – a story The Spoilerignored because it was so blown out of proportion it was ridiculous.
Anyway, it would be a shame if the United players – who all come across as pretty decent fellows – were forced to leave because of this one incident.
C’mon Fergz, let’s not one silly person spoil things for everyone…
