Are Rovers’ new owners looking to replace him with Maradona?
Sam Allardyce, September 2010:
I’m not suited to Bolton or Blackburn, I would be more suited to Inter or Real Madrid. It wouldn’t be a problem to me to go and manage those clubs because I would win the double or the league every time.
Jose – you might as well start packing your bags now, mate.
Blackburn Rovers’ new owners, Indian chicken giants Venky’s Group, stamped their mark on the club in an extreme way yesterday, by handing Fat Sam his P45 despite only being three points off 7th.
56-year-old Allardyce has been given the boot along with assistant manger Neil McDonald after a bad spell of three losses from five games, with Venky’s claiming the move was part of ‘wider plans and ambitions for the club.’
Although the clueless lunatics (”we want good football and Blackburn to be fourth or fifth in the league – or even better“) have stated they’re on the hunt for a British manager, it hasn’t stopped the good gentlemenfolk of the press suggesting Diego Maradona could be next to rock up at Ewood Park.
Mirror Football have quoted ‘an Indian insider’ as saying:
Maradona is seen as the right profile for the VH Group. He could be offered the manager’s job, the general manager’s job or even technical director.
Just what the hell is going on with the Premier League right now?
