Beautiful – yes. Funny – kind of
Having been the butt of those terribly hurtful jokes about Englishmen, Irishmen and Scotsmen hiding in boxes then one of them saying “potatoes” for so many years, old Ireland wounds might well have been ripped open by Charlize Theron yesterday.
The beautiful actress – who is South African, by the way – was rehearsing her part in tommorow’s World Cup draw, when she “hilariously” pulled the “Ireland” ball out of the bowl instead of France. Whether people gripped their stomachs and rolled around laughing, no one is entirely sure.
Fifa general secretary, Jerome Valcke, confirmed the gag:
“Yes she did, but it was only a joke.”
The World Cup draw will take place tomorrow at 17.15. Theron will be on her best behavior. Hopefully.
