Planning a jailbreak, chaps?
The word filtering through from our great pals at Caught Offside is that Juventus are lining up an ambitious swoop for the Liverpool trio: Rafa Benitez, Javier Mascherano, and Fernando Torres.
The Italian club has had a pretty disappointing time of things, and are now rumoured to be planning a massive overhaul in the summer. As reported on Goal.com:
Juventus are working on an ambitious move for Liverpool trio Rafael Benitez, Fernando Torres, and Javier Mascherano.
Il Corriere Dello Sport claims Juventus vice general director Roberto Bettega opened up dialogue with Benitez’s entourage in London last week.
The Italian used Juve’s trip to Fulham in the Europa League last week to get in touch with the Liverpool boss over a coaching role with the club for next season.
Bettega also wants Torres and Mascherano to join Benitez at Vinovo should a deal materialise.
Of course, both Benitez and Torres have come out all guns moaning in the last couple of days – their biggest beef being with the honchos in the Liverpool boardroom not releasing their grip on the purse strings.
Whilst Mascherano has been subject of a will he/won’t he for quite some time. The last anyone knew, he most certainly was.
But would they be wise to flee the sinking ship? Especially if it involved boarding another sinking ship?
