Boateng bros. Kevin-Prince and Jerome row over Ballack tackle

‘Ghetto Kid’ breaks off contact with Man City-bound defender

Cast your mind back a few weeks, and you might remember the dos Santosfamily providing a tear-jerking example of brotherly love in the run up to World Cup 2010. However, those scenes weren’t particularly in keeping with this year’s theme of ‘complaining’ and ‘arguing’, so the Boateng brothers Kevin-Prince (aka Ghetto Kid) and Jerome have decided to redress the balance.

Last month, Kevin-Prince’s horror tackle on former compatriot Michael Ballack, during Portsmouth’s FA Cup final clash with Chelsea, ended both Ballack’s World Cup, and apparently, Kevin’s chances of ever playing in the Bundesliga again.

Despite German international defender Jerome playing peace-maker and personally apologising to the German captain on behalf of his half-brother, Ghetto Kid claims to have felt betrayed by his younger sibling’s lack of support at the time and hasn’t spoken to him since. Earlier this month he blubbed to

“After the things he said about my foul on Michael Ballack we fell out. We see the event differently. I said to him, ‘we should go our separate ways’.”

Jerome recently told his side of the story to the Hamburger Morgenpost:

“I don’t want any more contact with him. Kevin thought I should have defended him and criticised Ballack – and that I shouldn’t have said that he deserved a red card.

“It was then that he said that we should go our own ways. I said ‘we have been for a while anyway’.

“Kevin said: ‘Each one of us has his own family – you have yours, I have mine’. That was too much for me. Now I don’t care what he does. It really doesn’t interest me any more.”

It’s like something out of Eastenders. The unsavory affair puts this quote from Jerome in April, speaking about his anticipation for the big Germany/Ghana clash, in a foul-tastic new light:

The handshake before kick-off is going to be a special moment, but after that he’s just another opponent. Family will count for nothing, and if I have to kick him, I will without even thinking.

The Spoiler expects Ghetto Kid will be doubling up on those shinpads come Wednesday afternoon.
