Javier Mascherano to Barcelona
While Joan Laporta was welcoming Zlatan Ibrahimovic and trying to kick Samuel Eto’o out of the door, Barca vice president Rafael Yuste confirmed his admiration of the Liverpool midfielder:
“I can confirm that Javier Mascherano is a fantastic player that personally I like a lot. But we have not listed (him).
“We have a lot of players who want to come to Barcelona. Mascherano is a fantastic player, of course, but he is today at Liverpool and he’s playing very well.
“The future we cannot predict. We are just here today attending the match. He’s a nice player – yes.”
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Yes, Mr Yuste, he is a nice player. And he is very keen to come and join you in Catalonia. We don’t think it is going to happen this summer, though.
Pavel Pogrebnyak to Blackburn
Big Sam went to watch the Zenit St Petersburg striker play at the weekend, but the Russian club are demanding £9m for his services. The Mirror think this is a few bob more than the Lancashire side are willing to part with.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Considering the fact that his contract runs out later this year, Zenit would do well to drop their price. The greedy so and sos.
