Lisa Guerrero’s lifelong dedication to displaying her hotness through as many avenues as possible is impressive. She started out as the head cheerleader for the Los Angeles Rams, then graduated to acting parts in trashy daytime soaps, before finding national fame as a sports reporter, film actress and lads mag favourite.

As a touchline reporter, Lisa met eventual husband Scott Erickson, a former baseball pitcher described by those who have heard of him as “overrated”.

It seems that Andy Roddick isn’t the only one who can select a female partner by flicking through a magazine. Chicago White Sox switch hitter Nick Swisher reportedly spotted Playboy model Danielle Gamba “in a magazine” (that’ll be Playboy, then) and asked his people to set them up on a date.

Major League Baseballer Kris Benson may be without a team at the moment, but he certainly has a fabulous WAG to keep him company. Well, almost: model and former stripper Anna Benson filed for divorce from him in 2006, but they still seem to be legally bound to one another today.

Anna is famous in New York for turning up to the Mets’ Christmas party in an outrageously small santa outfit, and then subsequently declaring that she would have sex with every member of the Mets, including the grounds crew, should she ever have an affair. Yikes.

Mark Kotsay is famous in the United States of America for playing a version of cricket known as ‘baseball’. He recently transferred from the Atlanta Braves to the Boston Red Sox, and the people of Massachusetts were just as keen to welcome him as they were his lovely wife Jamie Kotsay.

Continuing the theme of sexy American women who adore going out with sporty men, this is Leeann. She, like Alyssa Milano, has dated numerous US legends, including the Boston Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett, the surfer Shane Dorian, and a mildly successful “soccer” player called Benjamin Ortega… or something.

Besides enjoying physical moments with these men and others, she has also enjoyed success as a sportscaster, on a television programme called The Best Damn Sports Show Period, and as a lingerie model for Playboy. Also, you mightn’t be surprised to find out that she once sqodged herself into a dinky little outfit to work at Hooters, the chain of Michelin starred US restaurants where waitresses are solely hired based on the enormity of their passion for literature, poems and the emotive paintings of Caravaggio.

If you haven’t been to America, you should go, the place is amazing. Everything’s huge, people speak with hilarious pretend voices, and the national dish is beefburgers and chicken wings. Fantastic. Also big in the US is baseball - it’s their version of cricket - and this woman, Alyssa, is a fanatic. So much so that she designs baseball clothes for lady fans, owns an LA Dodgers season ticket, and has shared intimate lovemaking moments with Brad Penny, Carl Pavano, Barry Zito, Russell Martin and Tom Glavine - all big sports stars who are the American equivalents of Boycott, Gower, and Beefy.

Other than that, she’s a gorgeous Hollywood actress, who once starred as Arnie’s daughter in his action adventure film, Commando, about a man who leaves the house without any knickers on.

Mike Piazza is a very lucky chap indeed. Not only did he enjoy an illustrious fifteen year career in Major League Baseball, but he also convinced a Playboy Playmate of the Month to marry him. His wife’s name is Alicia Rickter, and you may recognise her from numerous appearances in the bunny magazine, and also in the most watched television programme of all time, Baywatch.

It’s not just our footballers who dip into the glamourous world of entertainment to find their girlfriends, American sportsmen do it too. Brad Penny, a famous baseball player with the LA Dodgers, insisted on taking an actress for a WAG. For those uninitiated into American culture, baseball is their version of rounders, and his actress girlfriend is a popular thespian called Eliza Dushku.
